Browser vendors (such as Mozilla) no longer trust those certificates after several irregularities were discovered. Thunderbird version 60 and later will treat all Symantec (including all Symantec brands such as GeoTrust, RapidSSL, Thawte, and VeriSign) certificates as invalid.
